Boudreau Captures Jack Adams Award
The Caps' Bruce Boudreau has won the Jack Adams Award as coach of the year after leading the team to a 37-17-7 record in his 61 games behind the bench. The team's 81 points since Thanksgiving was fourth-best in the league during that span.
Bryan Murray (1983-84, when the team went 50-23-7) is the only previous Cap to win the award. Boudreau is only the second ever midseason hire to win the award (the Flyers' Bill Barber did it in 2001).
The other finalists were Mike Babcock of the Stanley Cup-champion (and President's Trophy-winning) Detroit Red Wings and the Montreal Canadiens' Guy Carbonneau.
Boudreau garnered 31 first-place votes and finished with 208 points, 12 more than Carbonneau. Babcock had 65.
